Mazatlan Popular Beaches and Sites to See
Playa Norte - This beach is about 3 miles long and popular with the locals. It is a white sandy beach with rocks located at the north end. The rocks provide a good place for experienced surfers ( left break ). Playa Camaron is north of this beach. Locals are also know to play baseball and other sports on this beach.
Playa Camaron and Playa Gaviotas - These two beaches have many of Mazatlan's hotels. The sandy white beaches offer a great place to play in the water and watch the sunsets. These beaches can get crowed.
Playa Olas Atlas - One of the best surfing beaches ( breaks in the summer ) in town. Not recommended for tourist that want to take a relaxing swim or kayak. The name means "Big Waves".
Isla de la Piedra ( Stone Island ) - Located at the southern most of the popular Mazatlan beaches is a large peninsula. This Peninsula is surrounded by undeveloped coastline.
Playa Los Pinos - This beach is located between the Marine House and the Fisherman's Monument. Local fishermen sell their daily catch during the morning hours. If tourists want to purchase fresh caught fish, please be aware that proper preparation is required to avoid getting sick.
Playa Martin - Located just across the way from Hotel Hacienda. This is a good place to find a volleyball game.
Playa Sabalo - This is a white sandy beach popular with tourists. Many watersports vendors are available for hire here including activities like parasailing, wind surfing, kayaking and sometimes sailboats. Several small islands are just offshore that block the strong ocean waves. This is a good beach for swimming.
Playa Brujas, Playa Los Cerritos - Less crowded than the other beaches but farther away from the main hotel areas.
